Inside Las Vegas Sphere as U2 launch in remarkable £2billion venue | Music | Entertainment

U2 launched their Las Vegas residency in epic fashion on Friday night in a remarkable new venue.

The 25-date residency is taking place in the new £2billion building known as Sphere.

The Sphere has been as stop for fans for months on the Las Vegas strip due to its massive exterior that is also a video screen.

On the inside, there is an 18k, 60fps screen that has the highest resolution in the world.

The 160,000 square foot display plane wraps up, over and behind the audience with a picture that is 100 times that of a high-definition television.

The show, which has U2 performing their album, Achtung Baby, is like watching an “elaborate music video, visual effects and all” while the band plays live according to the New York Post.

Early in their performance, U2 frontman, Bono, proclaimed, “Elvis has definitely not left this building.”

Before calling Sphere and Madison Square Garden owner James Dolan “one mad bastard” for his insane concept.

Speaking to The Post, James called Sphere his “most passionate” project yet.

“We moved into Madison Square Garden and took ownership,” Dolan said.

“We didn’t build it, create it from the very ground up. So this one, yeah — it’s probably the most passionate business project I’ve had.”

The crowd on opening night did not disappoint with stars like Paul McCartney, Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre in the house.

Bono even gave the legendary Beatle a shoutout from the stage before playing hits from the Fab Four, “Love Me Do,” “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Blackbird.”

U2’s residency will run three months with tickets ranging from £190-£7,500.
